"Mack & Rita" Early Review

by John Zenoni

Oh, Diane Keaton. Why, oh, why have you spent what seems like the past twenty years starring in mediocre films that focus on things like moving into retirement homes, ladies of a certain age acting cute/younger and trying to be funny, older women dating younger men, etc? For an extremely talented actor you have definitely not made the best choices, in my opinion, to showcase your talent and potential. I'm not sure if it's you or if you need a new agent. Either way, the latest film, ‘Mack & Rita’, follows the same type plot line we've seen multiple times before - body/soul switching - and it has been done much better in other films. While this one has a good cast - Keaton, Wendie Malick, Dustin Mulligan, Taylour Paige, Lois Smith, and Loretta Devine - it's not enough to make this a great film. Definitely one I am thankful I did not have to pay for.
