"The Chestnut Man" Review

by John Zenoni

What a great Danish crime series currently showing on Netflix! This is one that has all the right elements in a murder mystery: great acting; intriguing storyline; and interesting characters. Most importantly, a story that leaves you guessing who the killer is right up until the end.
The chemistry between the key detectives in this series is spot-on and I really hope that this is just the beginning of more stories in which they are featured. In this series, you could sense their urgency to try and resolve the case before another possible murder occurs. The premise is creepy: a chestnut man is found at several murder scenes in which the victims are maimed in certain ways. All of this is taking place within a year of a kidnapping of a politician’s daughter who's assumed dead. But as things begin to unfold, it appears as though the current murders might be related.
This is a well made thriller that grabs you and doesn’t let you go.
