The Best Movie Prospects for 2023 (with Trailers)

Updated 10/18/22

You win some, you lose some. Both Star Trek 4 and Rogue Squadron were removed from the release schedule but a new Creed more than makes up for them. Two MCU movies and the return of Denzel add to that gift to make for a promising cinematic year.

Creed III

Release Date: March 3

The third Creed film will serve as star Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut. The first two movies in the series are flawless. If Jordan is surrounded by a talented team of filmmakers, that streak should continue.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3

Release Date: May 5

Writer/director James Gunn's declaration that the Guardians (this iteration, at least) will end with this third installment. While I wasn't impressed by the team's first two movies, their appearance in Infinity War and the filmmaker's likely intention to go out with a bang, gives me hope for the final installment.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter

Release Date: August 11

If this often-overlooked chapter of Dracula's story is taken seriously it could turn out to be a work of art.

The Equalizer 3

Release Date: September 1

Legendary actor Denzel Washington and uber-talented director Antoine Fuqua have combined to make magic several times already (including the first Equalizer movie). So there's no reason for this sequel not to be great.

Kraven the Hunter

Release Date: October 6

The Spidey-verse has been hot trash so far. But star Aaron Taylor-Johnson seems to be very selective with his projects and no series can be terrible forever...can it?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Release Date: November 17

The world of Panem is set to head back to theaters without Katniss. Will a young, future President Snow make up for Miss Everdeen's absence. Why not?
