"Dig Deeper: The Disappearance of Birgit Meier" Review

by John Zenoni

The latest Netflix entry into the true crime series genre does tend to follow the same format as many others that have come out except that in this case, the crime isn't solved for over 20+ years and it gives some really good insight from family members who were relentless in making sure that they knew what happened to their loved one. ‘Dig Deeper: The Disappearance of Birgit Meier’ is based on the sensational German crime regarding the disappearance of Birgit Meier and the solving of her case.

What's really sad about this case is that the number of mistakes made by the local police and authorities is what prevented Birgit from being found for so long. Once you find out what happened/where she was, it will make you angry and sad at the same time. It's by fortune that Birgit’s brother was a police officer/investigative officer and it's because he kept hounding his colleagues and police department that they eventually found out the truth. It's horrible that it took so long but at least it was revealed and the family was able to put things behind them.
