In 2018, I read the novel, ‘Just Mercy: A Story if Justice and Redemption’ by Bryan Stevenson. Below is my review of the book:
“Excellent, well written book about the works of one man who has and is trying to help others unjustly accused of wrong doings and sentenced to prison and the death penalty. I was stunned by the statistics provided in the book about the number of youth and women who were convicted and abused by a crooked legal system. Incredible stories of people in this book and how one man was able to get justice but in the end his life was changed forever. Very enlightening and thought provoking.”
I have to say that the director has done a great job of bringing the book to life on the big screen. What outstanding performances by Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan (who has yet to make a bad film in my opinion) and Brie Larson. This is a thought-provoking film that makes you mad to think that such injustice exists and that many, if not most, people who are wrongly accused of crimes do not have the means to defend themselves and make things right - if that can even be done. We as a society have to work toward making things right each and every day so things like this no longer continue.
Great film in my opinion and am so glad I watched it!
