December may be the month of redemption. Aquaman will attempt to make up for the DCEU's lowest point, 2017's Justice League. And Bumblebee will try to right The Transformers franchise's sinking ship. We'll also see the cinematic debut of the Black Spider-Man.

Mary Poppins Returns
It's hard to imagine that Emily Blunt has much of a shot at filling Julie Andrews' shoes. But Disney has been prepping this thing for awhile. Mary Poppins references popped up in two of the studio's big hits last year (Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and The Last Jedi). And Star Wars' usual release slot was cleared for Mary Poppins Returns' arrival -- which contributed to Solo's legendary failure. Will MPR justify all of the hype and upheaval? We'll see.

Bumblebee
Bumblebee is the first live-action Transformers movie to not be directed by Michael Bay, which is probably for the best given that each of the four sequels is worse than the movie that preceded it. It's also the first Transformers prequel, which suggests a change (a much-needed one) in direction for the series. If for no other reason, Bumblebee may be worth watching for the chance to see Bumblebee and fan-favorite character Starscream rocking their original looks.
Aquaman
Entourage, a partly-satirical television show about a fictional movie star (Vincent Chase) and his oldest friends, featured said movie star headlining a biopic about billionaire drug-trafficker Pablo Escobar. Before portraying Escobar, Chase took on the role of Aquaman. Both movies were chosen in order to illustrate Hollywood's tendency to scrape the bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of subject matter after having exhausted the most popular figures of a given genre. Since then, various real-life movies and television shows have been released about the deceased kingpin. One of which, Narcos, is among the best shows of 2015 and 2016. So maybe Mr. H2O has the goods as well. But after Justice League, that looks a whole lot less likely.

Clint Eastwood still has it! Granted, he is not the hard and gritty action hero (or villain) that we are used to seeing him portray as in his previous films but we have to remember that he is in a different phase of his life now and this certainly plays true in his latest film, ‘The Mule.’ Prior to seeing this film I had been told by others who had seen it that is was ‘ok’ so my expectations were not very high. However, I have left the theater tonight loving this film. First, I was shocked by his appearance when he first came on screen so that took a little bit of getting used to. Whether he really looks like that I can’t say but regardless he does appear ‘weathered’ in this movie. His acting is excellent as always so that has not changed. He also has an outstanding cast with him - Bradley Cooper (I did not realize he was in this film so it was a nice surprise), Michael Pena, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, Lawrence Fishburne and more. The story, at first, initially seemed absurd. This older gentleman, not a good husband or father which he admits to, all is a sudden gets tied up with a drug cartel by becoming a ‘mule’ for them. He does this to try and win his family and friends back having money to help with things. While the premise does not sound intriguing, it really is and works, especially considering that this film is based on a true story. Everything on this film played out well and the ending rings true. What I love as well is the great song that plays at the end while the credits are rolling. There is nothing I love more than great music when it connects to the scene or theme of a film. I never, ever thought I would like Toby Keith but his song at the end of this film is perfect. Great film!
