Alright! So I’m back with the remake of one of my favorite movies. THIS! Is Point Break (2015) and it's better than its 11% rotten tomatoes score but not better than the original in any way imaginable. And it’s shocking, considering this movie's budget was almost 4 and 1/2 times the budget of the original. However, this movie does have some redeeming qualities, such as beautiful cinematography and great use of stunts -- no matter how unrealistic they make seem. The film took the concept of its predecessor and turned it up 1 or 2 more notches than necessary, honestly, and it pays the price of becoming rather boring to watch. The iconic scenes from the original are duplicated in this one, only poorly so and with no emotion behind them. They really waited for the last 30 minutes of this almost 2-hour film to have everything pop off and it just wasn’t a good use of time. I get what they went for but for a movie like Point Break you need a smooth pace with an emotional ending. But this movie has none of that and the filmmakers really should have just left it alone. Nice try, maybe next time.
